Doors
Northbay Garage Doors can provide a new door to fit your needs and your budget, whether you are looking for a new garage door to replace your heavy, tilt-up style, one-piece garage door or because your old sectional door has become unsafe or unserviceable or if you want to enhance your home's curb appeal.
There are hundreds of garage door choices available. The price of a door depends greatly on door material and size, options chosen and, in part, on the installation situation. For that reason we do not list prices on our website. We do list price ranges/categories ($-$$$$$$) to help guide you through the selection process. The easiest way to start narrowing down your door choice is to choose the material that you want your door made from. There is information on the various door materials below. In most cases, once you select a door material, you can choose a "Traditional" or “Carriage House” style door to match your home. You can then decide on the level of insulation and any window or other options you would like.
Steel doors are the most popular choice by far. They appeal to the majority of people for many reasons. They tend to be the most economical choice, require very little maintenance, can be easily custom painted after installation to match your house or trim color, come in a wide variety of panel designs and layered looks in traditional style or carriage house style, and offer a huge selection of window choices and other options.

Wooden Doors are generally more expensive. Yet many people choose them because nothing looks like real wood more than real wood. Real wood is natural, elegant, strong and beautiful. Even painted, real wood doors have more depth than their steel counterparts. The drawbacks of real wood however, are what led to the use of steel doors in the first place. Like any wood exposed to the elements, wooden garage doors require frequent maintenance. Because they cover large spans in many instances, they require more bracing to help prevent sagging and warping and require heavier hardware, track and springs because they are generally much heavier than doors made of alternate materials including steel.

Alternative materials like Aluminum, Fiberglass and Vinyl came about as a result of trying to avoid some of the weight and maintenance issues associated with wooden garage doors. They are typically on the upper end of the price range for a garage door.
Aluminum framed doors can have glass panels or solid anodized aluminum panels. The frames are thick to provide sturdiness and the glass is heavy, but they never get dry rot. They provide a contemporary look and maximum light (with windows).
Fiberglass is both strong, light weight and durable. It is not indestructible. I would not use it as a backstop for pitching practice in the driveway. But Fiberglass is a great choice for the door that will occasionally get hit by a basketball or suffer other minor abuse. Expect to pay more for the benefits that Fiberglass provides.
Vinyl Doors engineered to provide a maintenance free and elegant look that will last a lifetime. These vinyl garage doors won't rust, fade, crack, or dent. It is the ultimate door for easy-care living. An excellent choice for homeowners in the coastal regions because of its resistance to salt air and sand.
